Thomas Kreidler President Sun Microsystems Federal, Inc. 7900 Westpark Drive Mc Lean, VA 22102
Dear Mr. Kreidler,
Over the last four months, a significant group of Sun's customers has been trying to reach various members of management. We are attempting to communicate our concerns that Sun is moving in the wrong direction in regard to the announced indefinite delay of the Solaris 9 x86 and the new Linux server offerings. I write you today to ask that you meet with a group of your customers.
My stepfather, Michael DeLorey, is active in the Navy League in Philadelphia. He suggested that I reach out to you and your organization, government sales, as these uncertainties are shared by my colleagues in your market. Employees from several government agencies including NASA, the International Broadcasting Bureau, and Census, as well various DoD groups and all branches are signatories to the enclosed letters to Scott McNealy and the board of directors.
I apologize if I appear presumptuous but I think it is vital that you hear from your customers in the IT trenches. If I arrange for five or six members from the .GOV and .MIL communities from DC, Baltimore, and Norfolk to come together in Northern Virginia, would you or a high level subordinate meet with them at a date of your choosing for even just an hour, possibly at your office in Mc Lean?
I hope you will seriously consider this request as I know it would go a long way towards improving Sun's relationship with its customers and provide you with invaluable insights about current trends in our industry.
Thank you.
